FAQ

✨ Frequently Asked Questions 🤍

Everything you need to know before and after installing your dreads. Don't forget to check our Dread Care Guide for more information.

Q: How long can I wear them?

A: Most installs last 4–8 weeks, depending on your hair growth and how well your roots hold.

Q: How long do the dreads last overall?

A: With proper care, your dreads can last several years and be reused multiple times.

Q: Can I wash my hair with them in?

A: Yes 🤍
Wash about once per week (or as needed). Use shampoo only and avoid conditioner, as it can cause buildup and slippage.

Q: Are they heavy?

A: They’re designed to be lightweight, but weight can vary depending on the style and fullness you choose. Wavy and goddess styles are typically lighter than more dense dread styles.

Q: Can I swim with them?

A: Yes!
For brand new installs, we recommend braiding or putting them in a bun to prevent tangling. Once they’ve settled, you can swim freely.

Q: How are they installed?

A: Each dread is braided into your natural hair, creating a secure and protective style.

Q: Will they stay wavy?

A: Yes ✨
Your dreads are designed to hold their wave pattern over time.

Q: Can I brush them?

A:

  • Goddess waves: Yes, they can be gently brushed if desired
  • However, we recommend allowing them to mature naturally for the best look and longevity

Q: How much maintenance is required?

A:

  • First few weeks: about 5–10 minutes a day separating the dreads
  • After maturing: very minimal upkeep

Q: Will they cause itching?

A:
Some itching is normal at first as your scalp adjusts to being braided. This usually improves within the first few days.

Q: Will my scalp show if I have thin or fine hair?

A:
Not necessarily 🤍 Placement and sectioning can be adjusted to suit your hair type. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out before ordering for guidance.

Q: Can I install them myself?

A:
Yes! If you’re comfortable with braiding, you can install them yourself. Otherwise, a friend or stylist can help.
