Frequently Asked Questions
Want to know more?
Q: How long can I wear the dreads?
A: Typically, they can be worn for 4 to 8 weeks per install.
Q: What is the lifespan of the dreads?
A: With proper care, they can last several years.
Q: Can I wash my hair while wearing them?
A: Yes, you can wash your hair as frequently or infrequently as you'd like. Avoid using conditioner, as it can cause slippage and buildup.
Q: Are they heavy?
A: Wavy dreads are designed to be lightweight. While there is some weight, it is much less than traditional dread styles.
Q: Can I swim with them?
A: Yes! You can swim freely with them. If they are brand new, we recommend braiding or securing them in a bun to prevent tangling. Once they are more mature, swimming is no problem at all.
Q: How are they installed?
A: They are installed by braiding each strand into your natural hair.
Q: Will they stay wavy?
A: Yes! The dreads are designed to maintain their shape over time.
Q: Can I brush them?
A: No. The goal is to allow them to mature naturally. As they settle, they require minimal maintenance.
Q: How much daily maintenance is required?
A: When your dreads are new, spend less than 10 minutes per day separating the strands to prevent tangling. As they mature, they will require even less upkeep.
Q: Will they cause itching?
A: Some itching is normal, but it is usually due to your hair being braided for an extended period, not the dreads themselves. There is an adjustment period, but it typically subsides over time.
